Come to the NYC TUESDAY NIGHT (Sept. 24th) Screening of the hit slam poetry doc Don't Be Nice, followed by a Q&A w/ members of the production team with Special Guest Host Otoja Abit!

Otoja Abit worked as the assistant director on Broadway's revival of That Championship Season, directed by Gregory Mosher. Otoja then went on to book roles in both television and film including: a role in The Humbling, directed by Barry Levinson and playing opposite Al Pacino, HBO's critically acclaimed The Night Of, directed by Steven Zaillan. NBC's The Slap & The Blacklist, ABC’s black-ish, And co-starring, as Marsha P Johnson, in Roland Emmerich's Stonewall. Recent credits include: Netflix's The Defenders directed by SJ Clarkson.. Co-creator, producer and star of the New York Television Festival’s Official Selection HARLEM KNIGHTS. And the 2018 award winning short film Jitters which Otoja wrote, directed and produced. Streaming on Amazon Prime. Currently in post-production of his debut feature A NEW YORK CHRISTMAS MOVIE which he wrote, directed and produced.

Don't Be Nice is the story of the upstart Bowery Slam Poetry Team, made up of five young African-American, Afro-Hispanic and queer poets, preparing for the national championships. As their coach pushes them past their personal boundaries to write from a painfully honest place, the poets break down, break through, and ultimately write their masterpiece.
